What is Intuitive Marketing?
I don’t know, it doesn’t come naturally to me. So I study people who have figured it out. The best way I can describe it is through a story. It’s a real story, from Sam who is the founder of Explicit Essentials. She sells self-care products with swear words on them. But as we were talking about why people buy her products, she revealed that it gets back to the same core thing that people have been selling to for a very long time. People, and primarily women’s, exhaustion. But not directly. She’s selling them products under a fun, and funny, guise. Using explicit words to bring levity into the situation, because no one wants to feel like they are guilty for being exhausted. If it is brought up, it should be brought up in a funny way, so as to alleviate the pressure the people already feel.
Explicit Essentials Epsom Salt Bath
It’s the same product you buy at Amazon, but with a distinctly different approach that is intuitively connected to how people feel.
Amazon brand epsom salts does the job, but does it speak to you?
Compare that to what you buy at Whole Foods, which I’m not knocking, it’s a great product. But, it’s about connecting the dots, solving the “last mile” problem, where you relate the product to someone’s actual life.
So intuitive marketing is knowing how to speak to your audience in a way that moves them emotionally. You see the first product from Explicit Essentials and you feel something. You see the second product from Amazon and you know it does what you want it to do, but do you feel something? I would argue not. Intuition is knowing what moves people. If you have it, you will get revenue.
