8 hours is how long it takes for someone to build trust and buy from you in 2026. For me, it was 8 years. Let me explain. We launched Interact, a tool for making lead generation quizzes, in 2013. At the time, no one knew what that meant. People were familiar with other forms of lead generation, but this was a new one. They didn’t trust that it would work, and didn’t want to invest time or money to try it. Check out the home page from August 13th, 2013 below.

I vastly underestimated how hard it would be to build enough trust for people to try something new. From 2013-2019 we had successful customers using our platform, but no consistent growth. We could not cross the chasm to widespread adoption. Despite example after example of customers who used our product and found it to be highly successful. Below is the home page from 2019, 8 years after we started working on Interact.

Same message, clearer promise, and we grew 30+ percent that year after languishing for the previous 8. We hit $1M ARR in 2019 and crossed over to more consistent growth. I don’t think there were any “aha” moments, it was just consistency over 8 years that finally cracked the code, and people decided to give it a try. We always knew it worked, because of the customers who did use it seeing so much success, we just had to stick with it long enough for other people to trust us enough to give it a go themselves.
